Stay Frosty: Making Drupal Rock with the Snowman Project

For years, we've joked that Drupal's "out of the box" experience is the world's most complicated blog. At first glance, Drupal Core is a vanilla mix of features and configuration screens that hints at power, but leaves many users asking, 'what now?'

To solve that problem, we need to focus on why people use Drupal, and leverage the Install Profile system to give users a running start with real web sites they can use. The Snowman Project is doing just that: we're creating an install profile for small groups and organizations that want to promote a cause, and working to build it into Drupal 8. This session will cover what we've learned about Drupal while working on the project, why we're targeting Drupal Core instead of building a separate distro, and how you can join in!
