ProBono Drupal Work and Maximizing on Fulfillment: The Do's and Dont's of giving and receiving free websites

Giving and receiving ProBono Drupal websites is a mixed blessing and usually more difficult than paid work because

  • Time is limited, which then limits creativity and good project management
  • A Drupal website is not free to maintain or host
  • Fulfillment is very hard to measure

However, ProBono is ProBono and those that have ever dreamed about using their skills to help those in need know that there are very real and tangible benefits. This session is for both that want to offer ProBono services and those who are looking to receive it.

My firm, Twomile, publicly offers ProBono grants and we would like to share some best practices which have lead to successful ProBono projects and some common pitfalls to avoid. This session will

  • Showcase nonprofit websites we've worked on ProBono
  • Examine several approaches to scoping and developing ProBono websites
  • Explain how to manage expectations for both the client and the developer
  • Give experienced advice on how to maximize ProBono fulfillment through advertising, money, and a good 'ol dose of good feelies
