What's Up with Docs

There are several infrastructure, process, team, and code initiatives either being discussed or in progress in the Drupal Documentation team:

  • Making the current Drupal.org documentation into a real community wiki, with minimal Docs Team leadership oversight (and better infrastructure)
  • Having a new area for curated/managed documentation that is more targeted and hopefully higher quality, with limited edit permissions and strict oversight
  • Collecting outside docs (e.g., tutorials posted on blogs and corporate web sites) in a searchable index
  • New core Help system (to replace hook_help() and Advanced Help, hopefully) for Drupal 8, with docs edited on *.drupal.org by project/module teams, and pulled into Drupal installations by site admins.

I'd like to go over the status and plans for these initiatives with the core dev folks gathered at BADCamp.
