Rich online multimedia has long been a area of confusion and frustration for any web publisher wishing to both manage and display rich media content to their users. The source of this frustration stems from the inconsistencies from both a Web Standards standpoint, as well as the best practices for both managing and presenting media in Drupal.

In this BOF, we will go over the past, present, and future of multimedia support in Drupal. We will also present a new solution which bundles the following media modules together that wrap up all these inconsistencies in an easy to use multimedia package.

• Media Module for managing media
• MediaFront Module for presenting media

In addition, we will discuss the possibilities of offering rich media support out-of-the-box for Drupal 8, and the roadblocks we need to overcome to get there.
